Your competitors are completing takeoffs in hours that used to take your team days. If you’re still measuring drawings by hand, Togal.AI is worth your full attention.
What It Is
Togal is a cloud-based pre-construction software that automatically reads architectural drawings and extracts quantity data. By uploading a PDF of your drawing, Togal can measure square footage, window counts, door counts, and other material quantities without the need to manually click through drawings. It also includes a chat feature, based on a ChatGPT model that can answer questions immediately. Built specifically for construction, Togal developed custom deep learning models trained on industry standard symbols to read drawings the way an estimator would. To help you better understand what they offer, Togal has a free tour that allows you to test their software on their website.
How It Works
Upload your architectural drawing as a PDF. Hit the green “Togal” button at the top of the screen, and AI will scan every page, automatically identify spaces, structural elements, and features. The AI outputs a complete quantity takeoff including footprint, net area, and wall centerline measurements. Multiple team members can work on the same project concurrently and the software allows you to see what each team member is working on, as well as how everyone’s work combines to form the complete project.

As the tour suggests, using AI to avoid manual measurements saves hours
Why It Matters For You
Being first matters in construction. According to Projul, the first company to respond with a bid wins 50% of the time. Quantity takeoffs are the bottleneck of the pre-construction workflow. Experienced estimators can spend several days working on a final number, and by then, it’s likely a competitor has already submitted a bid. Togal claims their software is 76% faster than a manual takeoff. This means more bids can be submitted in the same timeframe, meaning more revenue for your company.
The Catch
If you’re looking for upfront pricing, Togal comes up short. There is no set price for Togal, so you must contact them and get a quote. While there is a “Growth” plan that charges $299/month, this is recommended for teams with less than 4 people and is expensive for an individual to pay. The “Business” plan is recommended for 4 or more team members, but this is the plan that has no set price. Less of a catch and more of a limitation, it is important to keep in mind that Togal will not provide you with a final cost estimate. Togal only calculates material quantities, and it is up to the contractor to use current market and labor costs to determine a final estimate.
Who’s Using It?
Togal has seen unprecedented growth since their launch in 2019. After winning the 2022 eMerge Americas Global Startup Showcase, a prestigious competition between startups, Togal saw 940% year-to-year growth in 2023. The adoption of Togal is rapid, as the company’s user-base grew from 250 in 2022 to over 2,500 in 2023. Some big names that use Togal are Coastal Construction and Clark Construction. According to Togal, Coastal Construction has reportedly saved one million dollars and 10,000 hours of work using their software.
If takeoffs are the bottleneck preventing you from being the first to submit your estimate, Togal is 100% worth looking into. Coastal Construction saved 10,000 hours with it. The question is will your firm act before your competitors do?
